Understanding CSR

What is Corporate Social Responsibility?

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a concept under which companies and corporations contribute towards social welfare, environmental sustainability, community development, education, healthcare, animal welfare, and other charitable causes for the betterment of society.

In India, CSR activities are governed under Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013. Eligible companies are required to spend a certain percentage of their profits on approved social welfare activities and projects that create a positive impact on society.

CSR encourages corporations to become socially responsible and actively participate in improving the lives of people, protecting the environment, supporting underprivileged communities, and promoting sustainable development.
